Every Nurse. Fully Verified.
ShiftLock goes beyond basic credentials. Our platform tracks licences, insurance, background checks, and certifications — so you never have to wonder if a nurse is shift-ready.
Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
Nurses stay accountable by keeping their police check up to date. Our digital expiry tracker notifies nurses 30 days before their VSC expires, ensuring they remain “shift-ready” for nursing homes and hospitals.
Auto-notification at 30-day, 14-day, and 7-day marks before expiry.
CPR & First Aid Tracking
Nurses input their CPR/First Aid issue date and expiry date. The platform tracks both and notifies when renewal is needed — no more expired certifications slipping through.
BLS, CPR-C, Standard First Aid — all tracked with issue & expiry dates.
Licence Verification API
Real-time check against the NANB (RN/NP) and ANBLPN (LPN) public registries. Only nurses with an “Active” licence status can accept shifts on our platform.
Liability Insurance Vault
Mandatory upload of insurance certificates. RNs/NPs upload their CNPS (Canadian Nurses Protective Society) protection. LPNs upload their Lloyd Sadd / Navacord liability insurance — required by the ANBLPN.
As a facility, you can rest assured every nurse is covered — and know exactly by whom — before a shift begins.
Safe Staffing Ratio Alerts
By working with ShiftLock, you join our Safe Staffing Ratio Alerts system. We use preset benchmarks — for example, 1:4 nurse-to-patient for a Med/Surg unit.
If a facility posts a shift that exceeds this ratio, the app flags it as
Government Rate Tracker
Anti-Privatization Compliance: Our built-in “Government Rate Tracker” ensures your total bill rate (nurse wage + ShiftLock fee) never exceeds 10% above the base unionized wage step.
This keeps ShiftLock aligned with the government's goals under the Act Respecting Travel Nurses — ensuring no exploitative pricing and full audit transparency.
Scope of Practice Filters
Our shift matching logic prevents LPNs from accepting RN-only specialized shifts (e.g., specific ICU roles) without verified competencies. This ensures patient safety and regulatory compliance while giving facilities confidence that every nurse accepting a shift is qualified for that exact role.
Post-Shift Verification
After every completed shift, nurses verify what actually happened. This builds accountability, protects patients, and creates the most honest staffing platform in Canada.
How It Works
Nurses complete a verification form after every shift. Your facility will be rated once 20 shifts have been completed — giving you time to view feedback and adjust.
Nurse Completes Shift
The nurse finishes their scheduled shift at your facility.
Verification Submitted
Nurse fills out a detailed Post-Shift Verification form based on what they actually witnessed and experienced.
Grade Calculated
After 20 verified shifts, your facility receives a public ShiftLock Facility Scorecard grade (A–F).
Shift Details Collected
Nurses identify the exact shift they worked so reviews are tied to specific units and times.
9 Rating Categories (1–5 Stars)
Nurses rate each category based on what they actually experienced — not what was promised. All 9 are required.
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio Accuracy
Was the posted ratio accurate? Were you responsible for more patients than advertised?
Break Relief
Was dedicated break relief provided? Could you actually take your legally mandated breaks?
Patient Acuity Accuracy
Were patients sicker or more complex than the facility stated?
Support Staff Present
Were the promised support staff (PSWs, clerks, techs) actually present and available?
Safety & Security
Was security accessible? Any violence, threats, or unsafe conditions?
Equipment & Supplies
Were necessary supplies and working equipment available? Gloves, IV pumps, monitors, medications?
Orientation & Onboarding
Were you properly oriented? Access to EHR, codes, protocols, fire exits?
Management Responsiveness
When issues arose, did management respond promptly and supportively?
Overall Posting Accuracy
Was the shift posting honest and accurate compared to what you experienced?
Safety & Environment
Nurses verify safety conditions reported during the shift.
Additional Comments
Optional but valuable. Nurse feedback helps every nurse on the platform.
What Went Well?
"Supportive charge nurse, well-stocked unit, great team..."
Concerns or Issues
"Ratio was higher than posted, no break relief on nights..."
Safety Incidents
"Describe any safety-related incidents, near-misses, or dangerous conditions..."
Safety incidents are flagged for immediate ShiftLock review.
Verified Reviews Build Trust
Your verified nurse reviews contribute directly to your ShiftLock Facility Scorecard. Honest, well-run facilities earn higher grades, attract better nurses, and fill shifts faster. You have 20 shifts to view feedback and improve before your grade goes public.
ShiftLock Facility Scorecard
Every facility on ShiftLock earns a grade from A to F based on verified post-shift nurse reviews. Higher grades attract more nurses, faster fills, and lower turnover.
The Grading Scale
Grades are calculated from verified nurse reviews submitted after every shift worked at your facility.

What Nurses Score
After every shift, nurses complete a Post-Shift Verification form rating these categories.
Why Your Grade Matters
Higher grades directly impact your ability to fill shifts and retain nurses.
Faster Fill Times
Grade A facilities fill shifts 3x faster because nurses trust and seek them out.
Grade A Filter
Nurses can filter offers to show only Grade A shifts. Low-grade facilities are invisible to top nurses.
Lower Turnover
Honest postings = happy nurses = return bookings. Your scorecard builds a verified track record.
Platform Priority
Grade A and B facilities get priority placement in nurse dashboards and broadcast notifications.
ShiftLock Partnership
Consistently high-graded facilities are eligible for ShiftLock preferred partner status and promotional features.
How to Earn an "A" Grade
Post honest shift details. Provide break relief. Staff to your stated ratios. Ensure working equipment is available. It takes time — ShiftLock requires a minimum number of verified nurse reviews before publishing your grade. Start building your reputation today.
Introducing the “Acuity & Support” Section
When your facility creates a job posting or shift request, this section tells the nurse how hard the work actually is — regardless of the patient count. Full transparency means better matches, fewer no-shows, and safer care.
1. Acuity & Workload
Average Patient Acuity (1–5)
- 1 — Stable / Discharge
- 2 — Routine / Low Complexity
- 3 — Moderate / Multi-System
- 4 — High Acuity / Unstable
- 5 — Critical / Total Care
Ancillary Staffing (multi-select)
Unit Clerk · CNA/PSW · Respiratory Tech · IV Team · Transport Team — which support staff will be present on this shift?
Break Coverage Model
- Dedicated Break Nurse (Gold Standard)
- "Buddy" System (Doubled Ratios) (Common)
- No Guaranteed Break (Caution)
2. Operational & Technology
EHR System
Epic · Cerner · Meditech · Oracle Health · Paper-based. Nurses know which charting system to expect before Day 1.
Lift Equipment Availability
“Are ceiling lifts or mechanical floor lifts available and functional in every room?” — Yes (All rooms) / No or Partial
Uniform / Scrub Code
Example: “Navy Blue for RNs, Royal Blue for RPNs.”
3. Safety & Transparency Metrics
Ratio Variance Frequency
“How often does the actual ratio exceed the posted target?” — Never / Rarely / Frequently / Daily
Security Presence
24/7 On-Unit · Facility-Wide Only · No On-Site Security
Mandatory Overtime Policy
“Does this facility practice mandatory ‘stay-overs’ (freezing staff)?” — No mandatory OT / May be required
Nurses see this information before accepting any shift. Facilities that complete the Acuity & Support section get higher visibility and better nurse match rates.
